The Nerei-Beușnița Gorge National Park (Parcul Național Cheile Nerei-Beușnița) is a protected area in Caraș-Severin County, in the historical Banat region in the southwest of Romania.
Weather & Climate
Nerei–Beușnița Gorge National Park is a karst landscape famous for its deep, winding river canyons, limestone cliffs, and turquoise waterfalls. Because it is situated at a lower altitude compared to the Carpathian peaks, it experiences a milder, often more humid climate, with the dense forest canopy creating a natural cooling effect throughout the summer.
Summer (June-August): This is a warm and lush season, perfect for exploring the river banks and visiting the Ochiul Beiului lake. Temperatures in the valley typically range from 24°C to 28°C. The forest cover keeps the trails cool and shaded, though it can feel quite humid near the water.
Spring and Autumn: These are the most vibrant seasons here. Spring brings high water levels, making the waterfalls particularly spectacular, with temperatures ranging from 15°C to 20°C. Autumn is remarkably beautiful as the forest transforms; October offers mild, comfortable days averaging 12°C to 16°C, ideal for long walks and photography.
Winter (December-March): The park is quiet and peaceful, with temperatures usually hovering between -2°C and 4°C. While the area rarely sees heavy, long-lasting snow compared to the high mountains, the trails can be muddy or icy. Access roads are generally passable, but visitors should be prepared for typical winter driving conditions in rural, hilly terrain.
