The Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul (Biserica Sfinții Apostoli Petru și Paul) is a modern Roman Catholic church in Focșani, distinguished by its unusual curved architecture and tall bell tower. Built between 1991 and 2001, it serves a parish established in 1836 and is dedicated to the apostles Saint Peter and Saint Paul.
The Catholic population of Focșani developed during the 19th century as merchants, craftsmen, and other settlers arrived in the growing town. A small cemetery chapel was built in the 1830s, followed by a parish church constructed between 1846 and 1847. This building served the congregation for almost a century and a half, undergoing repeated repairs following earthquake damage. During the Second World War, Focșani also briefly served as the administrative headquarters of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Iași, when Bishop Marcu Glaser directed the diocese from the town between late 1944 and 1945.
By the late 20th century, the old church had deteriorated sufficiently to warrant replacement. Construction of a new building began in August 1991 according to plans by architect Mircea Ostoia, with the support of parish priest Mihai Enășel and the local congregation. The church was completed over the following decade and consecrated on September 29, 2001, by Bishop Petru Gherghel, in a ceremony attended by other Catholic bishops and local representatives.
The church has a distinctive modernist design, with sweeping curved exterior walls and a roofline whose shape has been compared to a guitar or mandolin. Measuring approximately 33 meters in length and 22 meters in width, the building is dominated by a slender bell tower rising to 52 meters. The interior has a broad, barrel-shaped form, with a central marble altar and Stations of the Cross arranged around the walls. Its spacious layout and modern architectural forms distinguish it from the older churches of Focșani.
