The Kinetic Fountain (Fântâna Cinetică) is a stainless-steel sculptural fountain near the Summer Theater in central Vaslui, created by Romanian sculptor Constantin Lucaci in the early 1980s.
Lucaci built the composition around a tall central column that opens into angular metal forms above a circular basin. Water falls through and around the polished stainless-steel structure, combining movement, reflections and changing light as part of the sculpture. The Vaslui fountain belongs to a wider series of kinetic fountains Lucaci created in Romanian cities using stainless steel and flowing water as the principal materials.
Work around the fountain site also led to an unexpected archaeological discovery, as rescue excavations carried out in 1978 uncovered a cemetery dating from the late 4th to early 5th century beneath the surrounding area. After the fountain later fell out of use, it was repaired and returned to operation in 2014.
