The Vovidenia Church (Biserica Vovidenia) is a Romanian Orthodox church in central Bârlad, rebuilt in its present form in 1826 on the site of an older church belonging to the Duca family. Also known as Duculeasa, the church has the double dedication of the Entry of the Mother of God into the Temple and Saint Paraskeva.
A church already stood here in the 18th century but was destroyed by the earthquake of 1802 and rebuilt in 1812 with support from the local community. Major work in 1826 gave the building the form from which the present church developed, including five towers. Later earthquakes destroyed most of them, leaving only the tower above the entrance porch, where the bells are now housed. Further alterations followed in 1849, with later repairs and restoration campaigns during the 19th and 20th centuries.
The church preserves several older furnishings, including an iconostasis dating from around 1800, historic icons and a funerary stone inscribed in Slavonic with Cyrillic lettering and set into the wall. During the communist period, redevelopment plans threatened the church with demolition for a new road, but the project was abandoned and the road was eventually diverted around the building after 1990.
