The Sub Arini Park (Parcul Sub Arini) is a large historic park south of central Sibiu, stretching from the area around the Municipal Stadium toward Dumbrava Forest.
Created from 1856 onward, it is one of the oldest public parks in Romania. Its development began under engineer Wolfgang Seifried, who laid out the first avenues along the SeviÈ™ stream and the former ditch of the Swimming School. Further planting and improvements followed through the late 19th century under the Society for the Beautification of the City, which added more trees, a greenhouse, an artesian fountain and, in 1898, a music pavilion used for public performances.
The park gradually became a long green corridor on the southern side of Sibiu, with broad avenues, open lawns and mature tree cover giving way to narrower sections farther south. The SeviÈ™ stream passes through the grounds, crossed at several points by paths and bridges, while playgrounds, sports areas and cycling routes are spread through the park. Other landmarks include the music pavilion, a bust of Mihai Eminescu, fountains and several smaller monuments. In winter, people often use some of the slopes for sledding.
