The Furriers’ Tower (Turnul Cojocarilor) is one of the nine defense towers of the historic citadel of Sighișoara.
The tower was built in the 14th century but after it was damaged, it was rebuilt in 1568. Together with the Butchers’ Tower, it was used to protect the eastern Töre Gate. More repairs were carried out between 1594 and 1595, and in 1679, after the fire of 1676.
The Furriers’ Tower has a square shape and stands on four smaller levels while the last level widens and has oil holes. The tower used to be equipped with arquebuses, a small canon, spears, a halebard, gunpowder, and lead bullets.
