The Palas Gardens (Grădina Palas) is a green leisure area in central Iași, stretching between the Palace of Culture and the Palas shopping and entertainment complex. The gardens combine lawns, fountains, an artificial lake, walking paths, terraces, and open spaces for events, creating a lively setting throughout the day and especially in the evening.
The gardens were created when the Palas complex opened in 2012, replacing a previously undeveloped area behind the Palace of Culture with a new public space built around the historic landmark. A broad staircase descends from the rear of the palace through a sequence of fountains and terraces, forming the main axis through the center of the gardens.
Away from the staircase, paths cross open lawns and planted areas around the artificial lake, while cafés and restaurants in the surrounding shopping complex open onto terraces facing the greenery. A pavilion and several larger paved areas provide space for changing activities and temporary installations.
Concerts, open-air film screenings, seasonal events, markets, food and drink stalls, and other public activities regularly take place here, particularly during the warmer months. In the evening, the illuminated fountains, terraces, music, and changing events give the gardens a particularly lively and social atmosphere.
