The Monument to the Heroes of the Revolution (Monumentul Eroilor Revoluției) is a memorial in central Galați dedicated to those who died during the Romanian Revolution of December 1989.
Designed by architect Aurel Pop and completed in the mid-1990s, the monument is formed by a tall reinforced-concrete structure clad in white marble, with a narrow pointed opening rising through its center. The shape of this opening echoes the arched windows of the Administrative Palace across the street. A large stainless-steel cross stands within the opening, while the inscription on the base reads “Glorie Eroilor Revoluției Române, 1989-1995.”
The monument underwent structural repairs in 2014, including work on the marble cladding and foundation. It is used for wreath-laying and official commemorations of the 1989 Revolution.
