Galați Military Circle (Cercul Militar Galați) is a historic building in central Galați, created as a social and cultural meeting place for officers of the local garrison. The present headquarters was built between 1920 and 1926 and is also known locally as the Army House (Casa Armatei).
Galați already had an organized Military Circle by 1896, when the officers’ association of the garrison was formally recognized alongside those in Bucharest, Iași and Craiova. Its activities extended beyond military administration, providing a setting for meetings, lectures, cultural events and social gatherings. After World War I, these functions were given a permanent home in the building completed in 1926.
The headquarters has a formal, symmetrical street façade with tall windows and restrained decorative detailing, while the entrance is emphasized by a pointed arch. The building was damaged during World War II and subsequently repaired. It remains in military use, with exhibitions, commemorations, lectures and other events periodically held inside.
