The Christache Theodoru House (Casa Christache Theodoru) is a historic interwar residence in Galați, built in 1928 for lawyer and politician Christache D. Theodoru. The house was both his residence and professional address during a period in which he played a prominent role in the city’s legal and political life.
Theodoru joined the Covurlui Bar in 1904 and later served as its dean from 1926 to 1935. His public career included two terms as mayor of Galați, from 1928 to 1931 and again from 1932 to 1933, as well as a term as deputy for Covurlui. He also worked as legal adviser to the municipality and was active in several local civic and cultural organizations.
Theodoru arranged for the house to pass to the Galați Bar Association after his death in 1947. Following the reorganization of the legal profession under the communist regime, the property was transferred to the state in 1952 and subsequently housed the Financial Administration for an extended period. It was returned to the Galați Bar after 1996 and sold into private ownership in 2000.
A commemorative plaque on the façade records Christache Theodoru’s connection with the building.
