The Roses Park (Parcul Trandafirilor) or Roses Garden (Grădina Trandafirilor), is an urban park and a historical site in Craiova, Dolj County. The park is also known as the Bans’ Garden (Grădina Băniei), the Saint Demetrius Park (Parcul Sfântul Dumitru), and the Buzești Brothers Garden (Grădina Frații Buzești).
It’s many names are all derived from the park’s centuries old history as it houses several important historical sights and monuments.
In the north of the Roses Park is the Cathedral of Saint Demetrius, which is the Metropolitan Cathedral of Oltenia. In the center of the park is the historic Bans’ House, which is now houses the Ethnographic Museum of Oltenia. In the southeastern corner of the park stands the Buzești Brothers Monument, which faces the Buzești Brothers National College across the street.
The park itself is a nice green space in the heart of the bustling city with trees providing shades and benches to rest after a walk through the city. The park is a habitat of numerous species including thuja, black pines, Virginia jumpers, shrubs, horse chestnuts, mulberries, and as the name of the park suggests, roses.
