The House of Collections (Casa Colecțiilor) is a private museum of collectibles in the historic center of Târgu Secuiesc. Founded by local collector Ernő Beke and his family, it opened on August 29, 2010, and displays tens of thousands of objects gathered over many years, ranging from everyday household items to toys, memorabilia, and historical artifacts.
Beke’s collecting activities also led to the establishment of a local collectors’ club, which opened its premises in the basement of the building in 2009. The museum followed a year later, making a wide assortment of private collections accessible to the public. Its displays have grown to include more than 50,000 objects, arranged in groups according to their type and subject.
The collections include pocket watches, clocks, padlocks, keys, thimbles, teaspoons, old irons, lamps, badges, medals, postcards, pens, perfume bottles, and beverage containers. One of the most unusual displays is an extensive collection of miniature toys from Kinder Surprise chocolate eggs, with thousands of figurines and other small objects. Another room is dedicated to the Hungarian Revolution of 1848-1849, displaying historical memorabilia and objects commemorating the events of that period.
The museum is located in one of the narrow courtyard passages opening onto Áron Gábor Square. Visits are free of charge but must be arranged in advance with the owner, who can also introduce visitors to the different collections.
