The Cluj-Napoca City Hall (Primăria Municipiului Cluj-Napoca) is the seat of the municipality of Cluj-Napoca and is located in a beautiful historic building on Calea Moților in the center of Cluj-Napoca.
The building of the Cluj-Napoca City Hall was designed by the architect Ignác Alpár and constructed between 1896 and 1897. The architectural masterpiece features a Viennese Baroque façade with a clock tower on the corner.
The building served as the county’s administrative headquarters but also served multiple other purposes, including as a political and fiscal center, and as an exhibition center for artists. At the beginning of the 20th century, the building also hosted the city’s balls.
In 1990 the Cluj-Napoca City Council was moved from the old City Hall on Union Square, to the former Coucil Square building on Calea Moților.
