The Second World War Heroes Monument (Monumentul Eroilor din Al Doilea Război Mondial) is a war memorial in Călărași, standing at the intersection of Bulevardul Republicii and Strada Sloboziei. It commemorates the soldiers from Călărași who lost their lives during World War II.
The monument was created by Romanian sculptor Florin Codre on the initiative of former mayor Nicolae Dragu and inaugurated on October 25, 2007, Romania’s Armed Forces Day. It features a bronze sculptural group of soldiers atop a tall stone pedestal, with two artillery guns positioned on either side. The memorial also serves as a location for military ceremonies and wreath-laying commemorations, particularly on Armed Forces Day and War Veterans’ Day.
