Dumbrava Park (Parcul Dumbrava) is a public park in Călărași, with tree-lined walking paths, recreational facilities, and several of the city’s outdoor attractions. The park includes children’s playgrounds, an open-air performance area, and a running track, while the Călărași Zoo and Ștrand Dumbrava are located within its grounds.
The park was established after the 1977 earthquake on part of the former Lake Ezer, an area that was subsequently developed into public green space. By 1980, the new park had become an established recreational area, and the opening of Călărași Zoo that year added a major attraction. In 2002, the park underwent its first substantial modernization and expansion, extending its landscaped area beyond that of the older Central Park.
The park has broad walking paths, shaded seating areas, and spaces for outdoor performances and film screenings. Several modern metal sculptures were installed following a sculpture workshop organized in Călărași in 1998, including Mother Wolf by Titi Ceară and Equestrian by Dionisie Popa. Together with the playgrounds, swimming complex, and zoo, these features make Dumbrava Park one of the city’s main recreational areas.
