The Spiru Haret University (Universitatea Spiru Haret) is located in the former building of the Urban Land Credit (Creditul Funciar Urban), a historic monument in the old town of Bucharest. The building is located at the intersection of Strada Doamnei with Strada Ion Ghica and Strada Smârdan, where you can also find the Stock Exchange Palace, the National Bank of Romania, and the Hilton Garden Inn.
The Urban Land Credit was founded in 1875, during the early stages of the development of the banking system, as one of the first institutions with lending powers. The headquarters of the Urban Land Credit was built in 1938 after the demolition of an earlier structure in its place. The building has a Modernist style with Art Deco influences.
The building is now used by the Spiru Haret University, a private university established in 1991.
