The Palace Hall (Sala Palatului) is a concert hall and conference center at to the back of the former Royal Palace in Bucharest.
On the site of the building there was previously a building called the New House (Casa Nouă) which was the main residence of the royal family, since the Royal Palace itself mainly consisted of large halls designed for royal duties. During World War II, villa ended up being bombed and with the abdication of the king, there was no need to rebuild it and all royal assests were nationalized.
The Palace Hall was built between 1959 and 1960 as part of an architectural ensemble of buildings surrounding Palace Hall Square (Piața Sălii Palatului). Among the most famous conferences held at the premises are the Economic Commission for Europe and the World Population Conference, both organized by the United Nations, and the World Congress of the Red Cross. The venue has also hosted concerts of numerous famous Romanian and international artists including Tom Jones, Bonnie Tyler, the Gympsy Kings, and Macy Gray.
