The Gabroveni Inn (Hanul Gabroveni) is a monumental building complex in the historic old town of Bucharest.
The Gabroveni Inn was built inside the Princely Court by Prince Constantin Mavrocordat in 1739. The prince wanted to set up a so-called bezesten, a square building around a courtyard with shops, forming a market place for traders from abroad. The inn was therefore also known as the Bezesten Inn (Hanul Bezesten).
Foreign trades could rent a space to sell their goods while the inn provided them lodging and food. Among them were often craftsmen from the Bulgarian town Gabrovo and this is how the building got its name Gabroveni Inn.
Nowadays the Gabroveni Inn houses lodging for students of the University of Bucharest and the headquarters of ARCUB, a cultural center of the Bucharest Municipality.
