The Middle School of Cristian (Școala Gimnazială Cristian) is a historic school building in the center of Cristian in Brașov County, close to the fortified church. Built between 1877 and 1879, it originally served as the Evangelical confessional school of the local Transylvanian Saxon community.
The school was part of a long educational tradition connected with the Evangelical church, which played an important role in the civic and cultural life of Saxon settlements across Transylvania. Its construction in the late 19th century provided Cristian with a substantial purpose-built school at a time when the village was developing beyond its older medieval core.
The building has continued to serve an educational function and today houses the village’s middle school. Its survival in essentially the same role makes it one of the clearer examples in Cristian of a 19th-century community building that is still used for its original purpose.
