The Post Office Palace (Palatului Poștei) is a historic monumental building in the center of Brașov, which still functions as the main post office of the city.
The Post Office Palace was built in 1906 as part of the urban plans for Brașov drawn up in the second half of the 19th century. Part of the medieval fortifications on the northeast of the city were demolished to expand the city towards the suburbs. Together with the Post Office Palace, some other government buildings were built in the same area, including a Treasury Hall, which is now used as the Brașov City Hall, and the Palace of Justice, which now hosts the Brașov County Council.
The Post Office Palace was once one of the most important buildings in the city, but nowadays the amount of physical mail sent has drastically declined. Nevertheless, the building is still used as a post office and inside you can see huge halls with massive wooden doors, beautifully carved tables and a small artisan fountain.
