The Church of the Holy Voivodes (Biserica Sfinții Voievozi) is an Eastern Orthodox church in Botoșani, built between 1850 and 1862 on the site of an earlier wooden church dedicated to the Archangels Michael and Gabriel. The present building was initiated by Manoil Vasilieve, a former president of the Botoșani Tribunal, with the first funds provided by Turel Sisoschi and further contributions from local parishioners. It was consecrated on July 30, 1862.
The church replaced a wooden predecessor erected around 1770 by Ștefan and Elena Stihi. After the new masonry church was completed, the older building was dismantled in 1863, transported to the village of Cotârgaci, and rebuilt there at the expense of landowner Alecu Miclescu. It still survives in Cotârgaci as the village’s Church of the Holy Voivodes.
Built from stone and brick, the present church has a simple Byzantine-influenced plan with a central nave covered by a plain vault supported on four arches. The bell tower forms part of the western end of the building above the narthex and introduces semi-Gothic details, while the roofline is distinguished by 22 small decorative turrets. A porch at the entrance and a vestry beside the altar complete the main structure.
The interior decoration dates largely from the 20th century. Between 1934 and 1935, painter Ștefan Stroiny covered the church with Neo-Byzantine murals, including the Holy Trinity in the altar vault, Christ Pantocrator and the Four Evangelists above the nave, and scenes and saints along the side walls. A choir gallery was added during the same period, and the church was reconsecrated in October 1935.
