The Church Of The Holy Great Martyr Demetrius (Biserica Sfântul Mare Mucenic Dimitrie) is a 19th-century Orthodox church in Botoșani, built in 1834 on the site of an earlier wooden church with the same dedication. It was founded by Ioan and Maria Mavromati together with Grigore Racliș and was also dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul.
The church originally stood within a much larger parish property of around 12,000 square meters, which also contained several traditional Moldavian houses. Much of this land was expropriated before 1960 and later built over with apartment blocks, leaving the church within a far smaller urban setting.
Religious use became limited during the communist period, and from 1975 services were held only seasonally because the building could not be heated in winter. The parish was formally re-established here in 1993, followed by major consolidation and repair work between 1996 and 2003.
The church is built from stone and brick, with very thick walls and a compact, heavy exterior. Inside, the iconostasis and the icons along the nave and narthex were restored during the late 20th-century works, while the present fresco decoration was painted by Dan Gogu.
