The Bihor branch of the National Bank of Romania (Agenția Bihor a Banca Națională a României) is located in a historic building on Trajan Park in the center of Oradea, Bihor County.
The building of the National Bank of Romania was constructed between 1911 and 1912 for the former Austrian-Hungarian Bank. It has an elegant, Viennese Eclectic style, with some neo-Classical and Baroque elements. The three-story building is divided into five symmetrical axes which are delimited by pilasters which end in composite capitals highlighted by pediments that are richly decorated with corbels and buttons with floral motifs. On the building’s facade, you can see decorative reliefs, which include a lion’s head and a laurel wreath.
On 15 October 1920, the National Bank of Romania opened its regional branch, which had been established the year before, in the building. The institution still operates from there. In 2010, the facade of the building was renovated.
