The Deposit And Savings House (Casa de Păstrare și Economii) is a historic building on the corner of Union Square and Strada Primăriei in Oradea, Bihor County.
The building was constructed as a dwelling house by the Greek Catholic Bishop Samuil Vulcan between 1809 and 1810. The one-story building consists of two wings forming a square with an inner courtyard.
From 1861, the Deposit and Savings House of Great Oradea occupied the ground floor of the building. The bank was founded in 1847 by Sztaroveszky Károly, a medic and founder of a children’s hospital, and until the First World War, it was the oldest and most important bank in the city.
In 1887, the building was renovated and modernized by the architect Kálmán Rimanóczy sr., who gave the building its eclectic style with neo-Renaissance elements. Around 1900, the bank moved its operations to the upper floor of the building, while Müller Salamon opened his confectionery store on the ground floor, next to the Golden Cross Pharmacy (Farmacie Crucea de Aur), which had already moved there in 1873.
