The Statue of Metropolitan Dosoftei (Statuia mitropolitului Dosoftei) is a bronze monument on Palace Square in Iași, standing beside the Dosoftei House. Created by Iași sculptor Iftimie Bârleanu and unveiled in 1975, it commemorates one of the most important scholars and church leaders of 17th-century Moldavia.
Dosoftei, born Dimitrie Barilă in 1624, served twice as Metropolitan of Moldavia and became a major figure in the development of Romanian-language religious writing. His best-known work, the Psalter in Verse, published in 1673, transformed the biblical psalms into Romanian poetry, while his translations and printing activity helped expand the use of Romanian in church books and worship.
Bârleanu portrayed the metropolitan seated and holding a book, emphasizing his role as a scholar and translator rather than presenting him in a ceremonial pose. Its location beside Dosoftei House reinforces that literary theme, as the building now contains a museum of early Romanian literature and printing.
