The Nanu-Muscel House (Casa Nanu-Muscel) is a historic monument on Roman Square in Bucharest. The house is the former residence of Ion Nanu-Muscel (1862-1938), a professor of semiology and medical clinic at the Bucharest University of Medicine.
The house was built between 1909 and 1911 following the plans of the architect Ernest Doneaud. He designed the villa in a Beaux-Art style with rich decoration on both the inside and outside. Some of the decorative elements, including florals, female masks, and vases, resemble the style of Ion D. Berindey, which sparks the debate whether the architect was also involved in the construction or not. The house is one of the most elegant works of Ernest Doneau and a typical example of the Neo-Romantic style loved by the Romanian aristocratic elite of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
In 2012, the Bucharest University of Economic Studies bought the house, renovated it, and incorporated it into a newly built modern glass building to expand its campus.
